Writing more than 100 articles a year keeps this Seattle freelance writer pretty busy, but when I'm not parked in front of my laptop, you'll find me traveling (often on assignment), trying new fitness classes, and volunteering with homeless youth in downtown Seattle.
My first book, on the evolution of women and physical strength, was published by Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books imprint in April 2020.
I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in communication. A week after commencement, I started my career as an assistant editor at American Way, the in-flight magazine for American Airlines. I struck out on my own in 2009 and have been a full-time freelancer ever since.
I love roller coasters, word games, and writing by hand. I'm an ACE-certified group fitness instructor and am always working on a personal goal — previous ones include running a marathon, summiting Mount Rainier, completing a double century bike ride, and competing in a bodybuilding show. We'll see what's next!

"Your post made the rounds and was universally loved!"
"In case I haven't said so before, this piece is terrific. A ton of care went into putting it together — it's a huge sprawling piece, but nicely focused and never dull."

"I wish I could clone you! Whenever I see your name at the top of a story, I just breathe a sigh of relief."
